custodial parents

Wouldn't it be interesting if instead of the absent parent paying child support, the custodial parent would pay for the priviledge of having the children. Of course I recognize that the absent parent has a duty, an obligation, to the children but I wonder if custody battles which occur solely as a manipulation of the other parent would lessen. Would the parent who cared for the children be the one who was willing to sacrifice comfort for custody? As a single parent of an adult child, who didn't receive child support, I can attest to the financial burden of solo parenting. I would not support a change in law. This question is purely rhetorical, in case you were wondering.
